Step-by-Step Removal Guide
Blot Immediately
Blot fresh ink with a clean cloth. Don't rub - this spreads the ink. Place paper towels under the stain to absorb ink as you work.
Apply Rubbing Alcohol
Place a cloth under the stain. Dab rubbing alcohol (70% or higher) onto the ink with a cotton ball or clean cloth. The ink will transfer to the cloth below.
Blot and Repeat
Blot with a clean section of cloth. Move to fresh areas of the cloth as ink transfers. Repeat until no more ink transfers.
Pre-Treat with Stain Remover
Apply a commercial ink remover or liquid laundry detergent. Gently work it into any remaining stain with your fingers.
Soak if Needed
For stubborn stains, soak in cold water with oxygen bleach for 30 minutes. Check progress and repeat if necessary.
Wash and Air Dry
Wash in cold water with regular detergent. Air dry and check - repeat treatment if any ink remains before drying with heat.

β Frequently Asked Questions
What about permanent marker stains?
Permanent marker is harder but not impossible. Use acetone (nail polish remover) or hand sanitizer (high alcohol content). Test on hidden area first as acetone can damage some fabrics.
Can I use milk to remove ink?
Yes! Soak the stained area in milk overnight. The lactic acid and enzymes in milk can break down ink. Rinse and wash normally afterward. This works best on fresh ballpoint ink.
How do I remove dried ink stains?
Dried ink is more challenging. Saturate with rubbing alcohol and let sit for 15 minutes. Scrub gently with an old toothbrush. You may need to repeat multiple times. Amodex works well on old stains.
What about ink on leather?
Leather requires gentle treatment. Use a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol, working from outside in. Blot immediately. Apply leather conditioner after treatment to prevent drying.
